Shark sighting closes Southland Beach
Huntington Beach experts blocked access to the waters of Sunset
Beach, between Warner Avenue and Anderson Street, after a shark was detected on Monday.
The walker on the beach cheered a lifeguard between 12:30 p.m.
What's more, at 1 p.m., a shark was sighted, said Jennifer Carey,
a representative for the city of Huntington Beach.
Carey said the sharks were assessed in the range of 8 and 12 feet.
"In light of those sizes, it may not be a juvenile shark," Carey said.
Carey said the city has a strategy that in the event that the shark
shows a coercive way of behaving or is of a certain size, the water shuts off in like four hours.
Carey said water entry could be resumed between Monday nights.
