Cloud to ground lightning, 60 mph wind: Strong thunderstorm warning

The National Weather Service placed Baltimore County under a severe storm warning.

Baltimore County, MD - Hurricanes in Baltimore County are

strengthening Saturday evening, prompting the National Weather

Service to issue a severe storm warning.

Officials said that just after 2:40 p.m., the storm was moving from

Owings Mills to Catonsville in an upward direction of 25 mph. Radar

showed wind tornadoes mph and hail under 0.75 inches.

Officials said that due to continuous cloud, lightning is falling on the

ground. Forecasters said it would be ideal for individuals to move in

immediately. Heavy deluges can cause floods of fires, and cause ponds to form in the streets.

The National Weather Service warned of severe rain from around

2:45 pm to 3:30 pm. For Baltimore County and Baltimore City on Saturday, July 16.

During extreme storm warning periods, people should move to an

inside room on the lowest floor to be safe.
